The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (English name Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, abbreviated as GBA) consists of two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau and Guangdong Province, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing. It is composed of nine Pearl River Delta cities with a total area of 56,000 square kilometers. At the end of 2018, the total population has reached 70 million. It is one of the most open and economically dynamic regions in China and has an important strategic position in the overall development of the country.
Promoting the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a major decision made by the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. On July 1, 2017, Xi Jinping attended the signing ceremony of the “Framework Agreement on Deepening Cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao and Promoting the Construction of the Greater Bay Area”.
