Colorless transparent liquid. It smells like acetone. Volatile. It is miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform and oil. It is soluble in 4 phr water, but the solubility decreases with the increase of temperature. It can form an azeotropic mixture with water (11.3% water), with an azeotropic point of 73.4 ℃ (containing 88.7% butanone). The relative density (d204) was 0.805. Freezing point - 86 ℃. The boiling point is 79.6 ℃. The refractive index (n15d) was 1.3814. The flash point is 1.1 ℃. The median lethal dose (LD50) was 3300 mg / kg in rats. It is flammable, and vapor can form explosive mixture with air, and the explosion limit is 1.81% ~ 11.5% (volume). High concentrations of steam are anesthetic.
Purpose:
1. It can be used as solvent of cellulose acetate, acrylic resin, alkyd resin, paint, ink, binder of dyes, dewaxing agent of lubricating oil, curing accelerator, etc
2. It is used as a reagent for the determination of cadmium, copper and mercury, a reference material for chromatographic analysis and a solvent for semiconductor lithography
3. GB 2760-96 stipulates that it is allowed to use edible spices. It is mainly used for making cheese, coffee and banana flavor. It can also be used as extraction solvent.
4. Butanone is mainly used as solvent, such as lube oil dewaxing, coating industry and azeotropic distillation of various resin solvents, vegetable oil extraction process and refining process. Its advantages are strong solubility, lower volatility than acetone, belonging to medium boiling point ketone solvent. Butanone is also an intermediate for the preparation of medicine, dyes, detergents, spices, antioxidants and some catalysts. It is used as a developer for integrated circuit lithography in the electronic industry.
5. Butanone is the raw material for the preparation of acaricide.
6. It is an organic synthetic material and can be used as solvent. It is used as dewaxing agent of lubricating oil in oil refining industry, and also used in medicine, coating, dyestuff, detergent, perfume and electronic industry. Solvent for liquid ink. Cosmetics for nail polish manufacturing, as low boiling point solvents, can reduce the viscosity of nail polish, quick drying.
